Most well-known for their smartphones, HTC has made a name for themselves in the electronics world that is hard to surpass. Although they specialize in smartphones, they have also dabbled in tablets but are now exploring a new part of the world in electronics. Compact cameras are becoming more and more popular as the desire to carry around less bulky electronics is becoming almost a necessity in this day and age. Simplicity is also an aspect of electronics that is becoming lost in the complexity of some devices but HTC has designed a device that is convenient to use and can practically fit in your back pocket. The HTC RE Camera India release date is coming quick so catch a glimpse on all its features to decide whether or not it’s one that will fit your needs.
The periscope shapes device has appear odd at first but once you understand what it’s all about, it really makes a lot of sense. The compact design enables you to shoot both photos and videos in the simplest way with the ability to hold the device in one hand, fitting comfortably in the palm of your hand. The shutter button rests on the curved part of the device, in perfect line with your thumb, providing you with the perfect shot with the press of a single button while also keeping one hand free. This one single button can do multiple things by only adjusting how you press it. Press once to take a photo, hold for 2 seconds to begin a video and push the small button on the front to shoot a video in slow motion.
The clever design of the HTC RE doesn’t even have a power button. Just picking up the camera will trigger the sensor in the grip to power on the device. Once the device is on, the 16-megapixel camera with a 1/2.3” sensor will be easily accessible and available to take as many photos and videos that you could ever want. The unique design allows you to shoot photos without a viewfinder surprisingly well, with the subject always ending up front and center in every shot. This takes away the awkwardness that typically comes along with holding a camera up to your face and tearing yourself apart from that perfect memory you’re trying to capture.
Although for most occasions it would be ideal to take photos with one hand by just pointing the camera in the correct direction, sometimes it may be easier to view what you’re taking a picture of. Through the built-in WiFi, you are able to connect the camera to your phone and use it as a viewfinder. The camera is not designed with just HTC smartphones in mind but is also compatible with Android and iOS devices but not Windows. With the phone, you can also adjust shooting settings. Some settings that can be adjusted are the ultra-wide-angle 146 degree camera lens at 13 megapixel or the more traditional 16:9 ration with a 16 megapixel lens.
An 820mAh battery powers the camera and can be charged with a micro-USB charging cable to record almost 2 full hours of full resolution 1200 full HD video. Provided is 8GB of storage included in the device but you can also add a microSD card as large as 128GB for expandable memory.
The Bottom Line
The HTC RE camera is a great device to keep with you for all occasions to capture the best memories. It’s the perfect size to keep in a back pocket or in your purse along with the rest of your everyday needs. Being able to shoot photos without holding the camera up to your face is a great plus as it eliminates the awkwardness and keeps you in the moment. No, it doesn’t come with a large amount of storage but there is the ability to add additional storage so you can store as may photos as you’d like to the camera. The HTC RC Camera India release date should be somewhere in October or November but the price is not yet confirmed. Overall, this nifty pocket camera is definitely something that’s worth picking up.
